I scout out all of our locations prior to your session 📸 I look at how the sun sets in each spot for lighting, I look at contrast and colors, proximity and road conditions, etc.
The hard part for you is selecting which scenery location you want to have your session at ✨ Here are a few tips to help you along when selecting your location for your session: 1. Time of year: If you want a mountain session high up on Mt. Baker or Mt. Rainier, most of those locations (and roads) are inaccessible during the Fall and Winter months. If you would like wildflowers, Spring is your season 🌺 2. Timing and Travel: All of my sessions take place one hour prior to sunset for best lighting. Are you able to drive to the location by that time? Busy work schedules may mean we stick closer to where you live. If you schedule a weekend session, we have more time to travel. The sun sets later in the summer which may be harder if bedtime is early. The sun sets earlier in Fall so that may be your ideal season if bedtime is a deal breaker. Also, how do your children do in the car? My babies were always fussy travelers so an hour in a car seat wouldn’t work well for us at that stage of our lives 🚗 3. Home Decor and Style: Choose a backdrop that you will be excited to hang up in your home! A wildflower session will add more color to your home where mountains and fields may be more earth toned. If you are set on a specific outfit or clothing palette, think of which location might compliment those tones. Yellow in a yellow field will blend too much, etc. ✨ I can’t wait to continue scouting this winter to bring you new beautiful locations to visit! I admire Washington’s serene landscape and respect it (it’s fragile). If you want to check out the Leave No Trace principles prior to our session I would be so grateful ♥️ Happy Trails 🐻 |
